How it works
You arrange it
Complete our booking form to register your interest. We need at least 4 employees to visit your workplace.
We visit you
We bring the health checks to your workplace – usually completed over 1-2 days, depending on your team size.

We can complete the checks in most workplaces. If you have limited facilities, we can host the checks at one of our Oldham Active leisure centres instead.
We’ll provide an online form to check employee eligibility and manage bookings.
About the programme
Oldham Active is part of a Government pilot to expand NHS health checks into workplaces. Local organizations including Oldham Council have already signed up their workforce.
Our fully qualified NHS Health Check Advisors deliver all health checks. This service helps reduce pressure on GP surgeries while giving your employees easy access to important health screening.

How long does each health check take?
Each health check takes approximately 20 minutes per employee.
Is there really no cost to my business?
No cost at all. This is a free NHS service as part of a Government pilot programme.
What if we don't have suitable facilities?
No problem. We can host the health checks at one of our Oldham Active leisure centres if your workplace doesn’t have appropriate space.
Do employees need to fast before the blood test?
No fasting is required. The fingertip blood sample can be taken at any time of day.
Will the blood test hurt?
It’s a quick fingertip prick – no needles or scary equipment! Most people find it completely painless.
What happens if the results show a problem?
- Our advisors will discuss the results with your employee during the appointment. If further action is needed, we’ll provide support and guidance on next steps, including GP referral if necessary.
- All results are sent to their registered GP.
Are the results really confidential?
Yes, completely confidential. Results are only shared with the employee and their GP. As an employer, you won’t receive any individual health information.
What if I have fewer than 4 employees?
We need a minimum of 4 employees for a workplace visit. If you have a smaller team, you could consider partnering with another local business, or your employees can attend at one of our leisure centres.
How do we promote this to our employees?
We’ll provide you with promotional materials and an online eligibility form to share with your team. We can also advise on the best ways to encourage take-up.
Can employees on night shifts attend?
Yes. We can arrange flexible timing to accommodate different shift patterns. Let us know your requirements when you book.
What's included in the free leisure centre pass?
Every employee who completes a health check receives a free 7-day pass to any Oldham Active leisure centre. They can use the gym, pool, fitness classes and other facilities.

Once you complete the booking form, we’ll be in touch to arrange a suitable date. Availability depends on demand, so we recommend registering your interest as soon as possible.
