Frequently Asked Questions
When can my baby start swimming?
- From 6 weeks old, once you’ve had your postnatal check. For very young babies, speak to your health visitor first.
What to bring?
- For you:
- Swimwear and towel
- Goggles if you prefer
- For your little one:
- Swim nappy (essential for babies and toddlers) – Available to buy at reception if you forget.
- Towel and warm clothes for after
- Snack and drink for after swimming
Top tip: Bring a plastic bag for wet items!
Do I need to be a confident swimmer?
No! You just need to be comfortable in water. The pool is shallow enough to stand, and instructors are always present.
What if my baby cries?
Completely normal! Take a break at the side, try again, or come out if needed. There’s no pressure – come back when you’re both ready.
Can grandparents or partners come instead of me?
Absolutely! Any trusted adult can accompany your child.

Essential for all children not toilet trained. Available to buy at reception if you forget.
