This stage focuses on building water confidence and basic skills in a fun, supportive environment, whilst establishing the core building blocks for learning to swim.

*Please be aware that all new joiners will be assessed during their first lesson. If the stage isn't the right fit for them, they will be placed in either a lower or higher stage. If you think your child requires a parent/guardian in the water, please choose our Adult & Junior classes.

Is your child able to swim 5 metres confidently on both their front and back without support?(Required)

Yes

Please answer “Yes” only if they can maintain a horizontal body position with their feet off the pool floor and are comfortable putting their face in the water.

Can your child swim 10 metres on both their front and back using coordinated arm and leg movements?(Required)

Yes

Are they also able to push and glide on both their front and back, and confidently jump into the pool from the poolside? (10 metres is approximately the length of two parked cars or a standard town bus.)

Can your child swim 15 metres using both front crawl and backstroke. And also demonstrate breaststroke and butterfly leg kick techniques?

Stage 2 Orange Hats

Your child would suit Rainbow Swimming Lessons Level 2 - Orange Hat

Swimmers learn to travel on their front and back, aiming to swim without support, and with a recognised leg kick. This stage focuses on basic floating, rotation in the water and aquatic breathing.

Stage 3 Yellow Hats

Your child would suit Rainbow Swimming Lessons Level 3 - Yellow Hat

Swimmers develop their streamlining through push and glides, whilst also learning to swim underwater. Developing technique will see them achieve 10 metres on their front and back, recognisable as front crawl and backstroke.
