
Aquacise
Aquacise takes place in the shallow end of the swimming pool and is similar to land aerobics, but in water.
This fun fitness class will raise your pulse and build strength as you work against the resistance of the water. This class is ideal for everyone, aiming to tone the whole body without added pressure on the joints.
Suitable for ages 11+. 8 years+ can participate if they can swim 10 metres.
Female only classes are available at Chadderton Wellbeing Centre.

Do I need to be able to swim to take part in Aquacise?
No – Aquacise is held in the shallow end of the pool, so swimming ability isn’t essential. However, children aged 8–10 must be able to swim at least 10 metres to take part.
What do I need to bring to an Aquacise session?
Please bring suitable swimwear, a towel, and a bottle of water to keep hydrated during the session. All other equipment will be provided.
How long is the class and what does it involve?
Aquacise typically lasts 45 minutes and is designed to raise your heart rate and improve overall fitness. The water provides natural resistance, helping tone muscles and build strength, all while keeping the impact low on your joints.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes – booking in advance is recommended as spaces can fill up quickly. You can book online, through the Oldham Active app, or at your nearest centre’s reception.
Is the class suitable for all fitness levels?
Absolutely – Aquacise is adaptable for all abilities. Whether you’re just starting out or already active, you can go at your own pace while still getting the benefits of a full-body workout.
